Your Light Is Too Beautiful to Go Out
The unnamed woman in my short short fiction ‘Treading Water‘ is suicidal. Whether it’s a chemical imbalance, PTSD, or other root causes, I don’t tell you. Depression and despair are overwhelming for many of us, even in what others call the best of times.
If you feel suicidal, please seek help. A very dark part of my life ended when I found a doctor who listened, counseled, and prescribed. Antidepressants helped me dig out and find a new normal, even happiness. There were no magic wands to help me, no perfect answers. I had to walk away from abusers even when they were family. Healing took a long time and was an up and down thing, with backsliding and surrender to more abuse, but I prevailed because of the help I received. My counselor gave me the tools to survive, to remake my life story, to find new friends and family.
None of that would’ve been possible until I reached out in darkness, despair, and need to a counselor.
You are a person of worth. You are someone who has the right to love, be happy, to be loved and appreciated. To be safe at all times. That is your right.
Please seek help. Your Light in this world is too beautiful to go out.
